The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, or OMSI, is located at 1945 SE Water Ave, Portland, OR 97214. Before hitting the town for a night of fun in a luxurious and fun limo rental from Limousine Service, take a trip to OMSI for a day of discovery.
OMSI focuses on culture and education. This makes the museum one of Portland’s most valuable resources. The featured interactive exhibits and hands-on activities are a great fit for kids and adults alike.
Exhibits
Desert Air: Photographs by George Steinmetz: This exhibit features over 15 years of photographs captured by legendary National Geographic expedition photographer, George Steinmetz. This exhibit (free to visit after paying OSMI’s admission fee) features breathtaking shots of deserts from all over the world and is open until August 18th.
What I Eat: This incredibly intriguing exhibit takes a look at what different people from various ethnic, cultural, and regional backgrounds consume on a daily basis. Based on the popular book, What I Eat: Around the World in 80 Diets by Faith D’Aluisio and Peter Menzel, this exhibit gives visitors the opportunity to see what people in other countries consider a good lunch. Open until June 10th, admittance into the exhibit is included with the admission cost.
Besides featured exhibitions, OMSI is chock full of permanent attractions that kids love. The younger children will get a kick out of the Science Playground. Designed with kids six years of age and younger, the interactive exhibit/playground is so much fun that you’ll children will forget they’re even at the museum. Some of the Science Playground’s features include an indoor sandbox, nature exploration exhibit, and a water play area.
